Alexandra Shipp Casts As New Aaliyah Lead Actress (News)

Lifetime's upcoming Aaliyah biopic has a new leading lady. Taking the place of Disney actress/singer Zendaya Coleman (who dropped out shortly after being casted) is Alexandra Shipp. A young actress best known for her role on Nickelodeon's House of Anubis, and has made appearances on MTV's Awkward and Showtime's Ray Donavan. Now with the new leading role set in place, production is set to resume this summer with Aaliyah: Princess of R&B scheduled for a fall premiere on Lifetime.
