Jabari Parker Front Covers Sports Illustrated

Chicago,Illinois has been creating quite a buzz on the basketball court and for the first time its not actually involving the Chicago Bulls. Its coming from 17 year old Junior Jabari Parker the 6'9 220 pound high-school star attends Simeon High School which was known for producing Chicago's native son Derrick Rose.Jabari is on the front cover of the latest issue of Sports Illustrated making him the first-high school athlete to be on the front cover since LeBron James.Parker, like Rose, establishes himself as a humble player, eager to share the spotlightand the stats lines—with his teammates.Jabari Parker has now won three straight state titles to Derrick Rose two at Simeon—with another year to go. In the Sports Illustrated issue it discusses Parker's Mormon upbringing and his decisions in the next 2 years which college he will attend and then whether to enter the NBA Draft or not.Yet many Chicago writers as of now believe Parker is more potential of greatness at Simeon rather then great skill like Derrick Rose was back then.Ted Cox of the Chicago Reader says "Parker's size and versatile skill set make him perhaps the best potential basketball talent since James, but Rose was a pretty polished basketball player as a prep, and I'm not comfortable yet saying Parker is better all-around at this stage of his career. But he does have another year to convince skeptics like me." Jabari is being pursued by all the top college programs—Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan State, North Carolina.Parker is definitely a unique 17-year old he carries a backpack that contains a pair of Nikes, socks with the NBA logo, basketball shorts, T-shirts, Icy Hot gel, a couple of rolls of athletic prewrap, and an iPod loaded with rap and R&B. But there's also a paperback copy of The Book of Mormon. Jabari belongs to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. "Basketball is what I do," he says. "It's not who I am."Never the less he is an eye opener on and off the court Jabari is a talent that he appreciates and puts his effort into the sport. However his family and deep religious beliefs enables him to think longterm and be humble as well.Checkout and enjoy some of his recent highlights below Jabari Parker shows why he is the number 1 High-School player in the 2013 class.
