Upcoming Artists/Media Tips

"I understand how hard it is competing as an independent artist in this industry. So I've started a movement dedicated to helping indie artists break through all the while living the steps I've listed myself. I'm sure there are many steps in between you may decide to do or learn about on your own, but this is a person guide, for a movement/cause dear to me. Enjoy".

Project "They Can't Deny Us Forever"

Step 1: Create undeniable content

-Video's, Singles, Mixtapes, Artwork
-Remember, quality over quantity
-Select production that compliments your style! (Every beat isn't a beat for you)
     -Be patient

Step 2: Massive Fan Support

-Build a major hype about whatever it is you're doing (about to do)
-Utilize websites that cater to independent music!
-Find innovative ways to keep people interested!(contests, giveaways, free downloads, merch)
-Constantly promote your content (You feel it's a "banger"? Push it until they notice)
       -Be patient

Step 3: Take Over Blogs

       -Presentation is key
       -Pick your BEST song/video
-Create a professional "looking" email blast (short bio, cover art/photo, song description, link, and any contact info or web links you may have)
-DON'T SPAM THEIR EMAIL OR TWITTER ACCOUNTS!
-Check google/twitter search for whatever song you've submitted (Your name, song title) frequently to stay updated with any possible posts of your song (SCREENSHOT FOR RECORD & SAVE LINKS!)
-If a substantial amount of time has passed, don't fret, SUBMIT AGAIN!
-Don't sleep on the smaller indie blogs (Although one major blog can potentially "put you on" they don't normally post music from artists that THEY don't know already & dozens of indie blogs with half the recognition supporting your music is a definite win.)
       -Be patient

Step 4: Hey Mister DJ/Radio Killa

-Now that your name "rings bells" (at least when they search it) find DJs/Radio shows/Podcasts you haven't yet connected with and submit your music!
       -Build genuine relationships with people!
       -Use your "Favors" wisely
-Ask DJs if they need drops (send the drops & include your song)
-Inquire about interviews (If they really dig you they'll probably ask you first, but try anyway!)
-Keep a clean version of your song handy just in case
       -Be patient

Step 5: Promotional Services

-Lucky for you there are now a ton of companies that will promote your music within their networks for a fair amount of money in return (The recession is no longer an excuse, it's time to invest in your brand and as you progress this will become an even bigger hassle for you if you aren't setting aside a budget for it now)
-Research these companies before you give them your money! (Check out other artists they say they've worked with, monitor their social networks to see how they cover their clients, GOOGLE!) -There are great packages as low as $50 to get started, use them Step 6: BE PATIENT!

-It takes time (Artists you think blew up overnight were working long months/years until they finally caught their break, your time will come. Keep pushing)
