Cleveland Cavaliers Wins 2013 NBA Draft Lottery (News)
The Cleveland Cavaliers takes home today the 1st pick in the NBA Draft. The Cavs will be picking number 1. June 27th in New York and will be the 3rd time in 11 years. After grabbing LeBron James and Kyrie Irving number 1 in the franchise's Lottery History seems the Cavs don't miss with they Number 1's.
"It's huge for us," Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert said immediately after the pick. "For us, it's about the city of Cleveland and giving them more hope as we build the franchise to the level we want to go to."
The Orlando Magic, who had the best shot at landing the selection, came in second in the lottery, which gives every team that did not make the NBA playoffs odds based on regular-season records. The Magic will take the No. 2 pick despite their 25% shot at the first pick, compared to the Cavaliers' 15.6% odds. Surprisingly the Washington Wizards may even been the bigger news of the day. The Wizards were predicted to go 8th jumped 5 spots and ended up with the 3rd pick and may have shifted experts Mock Draft all around. This year may be the most wide-open draft with solid balance of good players but not great players. As of the past couple months Kentucky's Center Nerlens Noel is predicted to be the No.1 pick even in the process of recovering from an ACL tear from back in March of 2013. But of late Kansas Guard Ben McLemore has been on many experts No.1 on the Draft Board so its still unknown who Cleveland will choose.
"This isn't a draft where there's a clear-cut obvious no-holds barred No. 1 choice," Dan Gilbert said in a teleconference. "Obviously we're going to have workouts between now and the draft.
