Tate Kobang "Silent Waves" [TrapRock Review]

Baltimore artist Tate Kobang, of 300 Ent. has came back and released a new project entitled "Silent Waves".  This project was hosted by Dj Flow, in which he reminds me of Dj Drama or Dj Khaled as he yells over the track but not annoying and says a lot of inspiring things. Tate started this project off with a record called "Dis Side".. Most of his followers are familiar with this track as Tate has played it during a live stream on instagram previously.  I think that was a good was to start off the cd. This record gave me the 50 Cent or Troy Ave vibe.  Which already shows Tate's versatility, as most are familiar with his very first single "Bank Rolls Remix", which was clearly a dope record with a Baltimore sound but has gained the attention of many across the globe.  "So Many" was the second record on this project.  Very laid back vibe, but also have that turn up feeling.. So if you got that cup in ya hand you lit! That's one of those records that you fxck with because you the hook is catchy and you can relate to most of the words.  "Tell Me", is a dope record. It caught me off guard as the hook came in first and reminded me of a Travis Scott or Young Thug, which both make dope music with a similar vibe.  This was a great segway to the next record, "Yeah".  Another track you can hold your cup and vibe to. This are type of records people are fucking with these days. (Video Below). Most of Tate's followers have witnessed some of his studio sessions on instagram and facebook live. "Chirp Chirp" is one that people may have seen as he was creating.  This song has that modern day vibe, but his content shows that he's embracing the older days.  In the early 2000s, the nextel phone was very popular. Most would call it a "chirp" due to the sound the walkie-talkie would make.  Those were good times and a lot of money was made on the chirp. That's a record you can ride out to... 808 is sick! "Days Inna North" reminds me of a N.W.A. track.. "Boyz N Tha Hood"! Tate goes in story mode on this one. Another joint you can ride to. What stands out is his confidence and arrogance.  I like he mentioned how rappers sneak diss but he won't respond to it. This guy is definitely focused... Moving along.. "Skert Skert" is a smooth melodic record that you can smoke and drive to with your chick in the car.. If you can get her panties off with this one, you out'chea lacking bruh. And if the did get them off... You can follow up with "Bad For Me", which is dope and has that new age sound that most may like.  I automatically thought of Future or Rich Homie Quan as I heard this record. Not a bad thing. Just not a fan of it. However, It's natural for us to relate a sound to a sound that we've heard before. As we get closer to the end of the project.. "Move Your Body" is the perfect record to slow things down and smooth it out. This song will definitely win on the radio as a single.  I can already see a dope visual for this record. This is the track you keep hearing back to back on your local radio stations, figuratively speaking.  Very dope record that you can two step to during the summer when you hit those lounges and clubs.  He could win the industry with this one.  The next record "Like Dat", which is already one of my favorites. You gotta respect the fact that this young dude knows a good sound. This track, produced by Geniro Beats, starts off with a very familiar drum loop from Q-Tip's "Vivrant Thing" then transitions to Geniro taking advantage of the drums and formulating his own pattern.. This a dope hip hop record, which I'm sure Tate did for the hip hop heads. But he still kept his flow modern and stuck to his own flow.  Last, Tate ends the project with "Got It In Me", which features a fellow Baltimore artist, Young Moose. On this record the two Baltimore City affiliates collab to kick that real street shit for the listeners that have been dying to hear both stories.  Young Moose, just coming home from prison has been making his rounds and sounds great merging with Tate on this record. Not to mention that he is the only feature and the very last song on the project. Overall, Tate Kobang has put out a solid project. Very dope. The title "Silent Waves" is epic and his promo for this project has been phenomenal. The only problem I have with it personally is the fact that it was released on soundcloud. I feel like this should definitely be on major stream and download sites such as iTunes, Google Play, Tidal, Spotify etc. Tate should be eating off this one. But I don't know the politics behind it nor his strategic plan. I just hope that he follows up on this one soon. But even releasing it for free it was a great way to gain the attention of his fans and obtain a host of new fans in the process as he works on something greater.
