Shawnna - Shes Alive
Chicago Female MC, Shawnna, has released a new mixtape, She’s Alive, hosted by Heavy Hitter/Ciroc Boy DJ Pharris from Chicago’s WPWX Power 92FM. Shawnna had been mostly missing from the femcee scene over the past few years, until rumors of her signing circulated recently. She said of the title in a recent statement, “I chose ‘She’s Alive’ because in the music industry, I wanted them and my fans to know that I am still here…” Newer fans may not realize that Shawnna comes from a musical background – she is the daughter of legendary Blues artist, Buddy Guy. She is also co-owner of M.O.E with Big Mike, and said she is taking “her career in her own hands and looks to show the industry what kind of a real BOSS she is.” The 20-track She’s Alive includes a bonus track, along with snippets from producer Young Chop, and features from Cap One, Chella, Young Berg, Parkay, Meek Mill, L. Streetz, Gunna, and Twista. According to her recent statement, the mixtape will serve as a “taste” until the release of her upcoming EP due in August. “I wanted the mixtape to be original music and a gang of remixes that I call ‘She Mixes’. Meaning I will kill you on your own track, ” Shawnna teased.
