Chella H: November's On The Come Up Edition

Traprock Archives returns this November with our monthly feature "On The Come Up Edition" here on www.traprockradio.com. Our new feature this month leads us to one of the rising star artist Chicago native Chella H. Chella was born and raised in Chicago's roughest projects and at the age of 11 she began writing songs, using her creative outlet to deal with issues such as growing up fatherless and her mother’s battle with drug addiction. Although Chella is from the streets, she is definitely not limited by them. She often proclaims herself a  "HighClazz Hoodrat" which in her words is "a chick from the hood that came from nothing & found a way to eat". Early in her lifetime Chella has dealt with many trials and tribulations. Along with the Windy City's harsh environments she has dealt with many tough experiences. At one point dealing with the lost of her brother and son’s father in the same week. Chella with her strong battled tested character has transformed herself into the soldier that she is today. Gaining mass attention through hear say and using her street buzz as a catalyst, Chella H went on to sell nearly 7,500 copies of her mixtape “Menstrual Painz” which was sold in everything from corner stores, gas stations, beauty salons and barber shops. She even employed homeless people from her neighborhood to aid in distribution by paying them a profit off total sales. Her authoritative presence, flawless delivery and ability to convey unflinching accounts of her struggle to survive make her a problem for even the best male and female emcees. Chella H's exceptional style, decadence and glamorous blonde hair-dos are her trademarks, earning her icon status in the streets, club and fashion scene throughout her hometown along across the country.

Chella H has definitely made a lane of her own throughout Chicago as a female artist gaining respect amongst her peers along building a major fan base. Often referred to the "The First Lady Of Chicago" recently released her mixtape The Morning After Pill featuring artists such as Freddie Gibbs,Shawnna,GLC,King Louie, and more. She was also featured in MTV2's Sucker Free Chicago Special back in last July. The MTV2 Special included interviews with Chi-Town's hottest rappers on the scene such as Chief Keef,King Louie,L.E.P Bogus Boys,Treated Crew,Sir Michael Rocks,Rockie Fresh, and many more. My first experience of Chella was a feature in Shawnna's video "Big and Fat" off Shawnna's recent mixtape "She's Alive" & her video "Real Bitch". What impresses me most about Chella H is her charisma, confidence, and ability to make good music while adding sex appeal as well. Definitely giving her female fans the realness of her raw lyrics & confidence to feel good about themselves on the inside & out. As a female artist its always a different type of pressure in the Rap Game whether it be finding your image, how serious do they take they craft or what they stand for. In my opinion Chella H in her own way is establishing herself in the game today giving her fans the her music, her story, gaining respect from men and showing all women that they can be bosses of they own. Its safe to say Chella H's aka "MiChella Obama" has many stories tell about struggle, success and chapter's that has yet to be written in her life. But certainly through music, fashion, and her personally. The people and fans we'll be waiting and anticipating to listen. Not only will she gain fans, Chella will gain respect for what she can do but potentially being the voice of female enpowerment that is well needed now in time for Chicago and Cities beyond.
