Louisville Basketball Hits The Championship (News)

This may not be the 1st time that a Men/Womens Basketball programs from the same school made it to the NCAA Championship. But for the Louisville Cardinals program this is a very unique and special story with #CardsNation. For the Men coming in as the Number 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament it was somewhat expected for them to make it to Atlanta for the Final Four & Championship. But it was the unexpected in the Elite 8 against Duke for Louisville with the horrific injury of Kevin Ware which shook up not only the team but for whoever was watching that dreaded day. With the leadership of Russ Smith, Peyton Siva, Luke Hancock,Gorgui Dieng & Head Coach Rick Pitino they gathered themselves to regroup with the added incentive to get to Ware's hometown of Atlanta for the Final Four. Louisville ended up digging deep with a victory over Wichita State (68-72) with big help from they bench players & Team Captain Luke Hancock. Louisville will be taking on Michigan Monday Night at 9:23pm for the Men's Championship in the Geoegia Dome in Atlanta, Georgia.

Now meanwhile on the Women's side the 4th Seed Cinderella Louisville Cardinals unique storied run continues. The Cardinals were the underdogs taking on Number 1 Baylor Bears led by Brittney Griner & Odyssey Sims. Louisville managed to hold arguably the best player in Women's College Basketball history Brittney Griner to a mere 14 points with an upset victory in the Sweet 16 (82-81). Then defeating favored  number 2 seed Tennesee (78-86) to advance to earlier today in the Final Four in New Orleans,LA  defeating California (64-67). Louisville is led by Coach Jeff Walz, players Shoni Schimmel, Antonita Slaughter, Bria Smith, Jude Schimmel. The Cardinals have been known as the party crashers of the Women's Tournament. They will be taking on the winner of UConn/Notre Dame Tuesday in New Orleans,LA at the Superdome..Definite great story for Louisville and all of #CardsNation
