Lousiville Cardinals Are Men's College Hoops Champions (News/Photos)

Louisville head coach Rick Pitino holds up the NCAA trophy.

The overall number 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament Louisville Cardinals (35-5) are the 2013 Champs. Louisville defeated the Michigan Wolverines 82-76 in a track meet of a Basketball game running up & down the game with many sensational plays in alley-oops,dunks & crazy finishes around the basket. Michigan's stand out guard & Player of the year Trey Burke 24 pts & Spike Albrecht 19 pts kept his Wolverines in the game but couldn't get enough from temmates against Peyton Siva who had 18 pts ,Chane Behanon 15 pts 12 rebs & Luke Hancock 22 pts (Final Four's MVP). Hancock was on fire from 3-point land finishing 5-for-5 including 4 big 3's to close a 12-point lead before the 1st half. With the horrific loss of Kevin Ware in the Elite 8 and bench player Luke Hancock rising to the occasion scoring 52 pts in 3 games. Ironically Hancock was first to comfort Kevin Ware when he went down with his broken leg & stood to pray for Ware to keep him calm. “We needed to rally after getting down the last couple games,” Hancock said. “But this team, working together, we believed we could do anything.” Its definitely a magical run for Head Coach Rick Pitino the win capped an unprecedented day for Pitino. In the morning, his election to the Basketball Hall of Fame was announced. Before the night was over, he was holding a net from the championship game and calling the Cardinalsthe toughest 13 guys I’ve ever coached.” Pitino is the first coach to win the national championship with two different programs. He also won in 1996 with Kentucky. His 664th career win tied him with the iconic John Wooden, though he still trails him by eight championships
