Tavon Austin Says "Everybody Wants Money"..(News)

Rookie Wide Receiver for the St.Louis Rams Tavon Austin made NFL Headlines yesterday. Austin shed light to a situation that has plagued Pro-Athletes for years but doesn't discussed as much as it should until maybe now. Tavon expresses on Rams.com when he got drafted he was worried about his expanding family from his hometown of Baltimore,MD "I've got a lot of cousins now," Austin told the Rams' team website when asked about adjustments to the NFL. "The whole (city of) Baltimore is my cousin now. We're going to just try to keep focused and let my mother and all of them handle it." Sources say that this issue scared of many teams from Austin to draft him cause of the possible distraction & effect his play on the field. Austin would also go on to say "Everybody expects a lot of things from you as far as money," Austin said. "Everybody wants to be around you. My phone doesn't stop ringing now. It feels like they're counting my bank account now. So that's probably the hardest thing for me right now, just people."

It's highly commendable by Tavon to recognize & address this issue early for a 22-23 year old young man to understand this issue which many Pro-Athletes deal with throughout their career & well after for some or never learn from. Many athletes deal with this issue of strangers, old friends & individuals who come with hand-outs & believe that they are owed for the benefit or just due of the athletes hardwork. It's a burden that can weigh on a Player's career & more importantly ruin their lives socially, economically, and mentally. For a Rookie just getting his feet wet into the NFL learning the playbook, OTA's, mini-camp, training camp, the team franchise, charity work and living arrangements plus more. This issue could be a sidetrack that can be a major setback if not addressed much credit to Tavon Austin.
