The official 2012 USA Basketball Team has been announced and will be competing in the London Games this summer for the Gold Medal. The USA coaching staff is led by Duke University Hall of Fame mentor Mike Krzyzewski, who has led the USA Basketball Men's National Team to gold medal finishes at the 2010 FIBA World Championship and 2008 Beijing Olympics. Assisting Krzyzewski is Syracuse University and Hall of Fame coach Jim Boeheim, and former NBA head coaches Mike D'Antoni and Nate McMillan. The USA Team will have an average age of 26.1 years old. The reserves for the USA Team includes New Orleans Hornets forward Anthony Davis, Hornets guard Eric Gordon and Memphis Grizzlies forward Rudy Gay left as the team's "cuts" from its group of 15 finalists. All three will remain on stand-by in the event of injury. My only concern with our fellow USA Team is the size in our front-court lineup mainly our Center & Power Forward position. We lack in length only having 3 big men (Tyson Chandler,Kevin Love,Blake Griffin) not all very great post position players we'll definitely need LeBron and Carmelo to carry that load. But nevertheless I'll be cheering and rooting for my fellow country in the 2012 Olympic Games and I think everyone should root for theirs as well.
