Team USA Big Winners Through (Week 1)

On the last day of his glorious Olympic career, American swimming icon Michael Phelps won his final gold medal, leading the men's U.S. 4x100 medley relay team to a victory on Saturday in London.

Michael Phelps calls it a career after winning 22 career medals most ever by any Olympian.
In his third go around of the Olympics, Phelps earned 4 golds and 2 silvers in London. His last race was a Gold Medal victory this past saturday in the 4x100m relay along his Gold Medal swimmers Matt Grevers,Brendan Hansen,and Nathan Adrian. Its no doubt Phelps is the most decorated Olympian off all-time. He's easily was the biggest story of this week's 2012 Olympics.



Missy Franklin says getting to know Michael Phelps has been "awesome"

Missy Franklin at just 17 years old had an incredible week in Swimming at 2012 Olympics. This week Franklin has become the bright story behind Michael Phelps breaking the medal record and his retirement. Missy Franklin has won the bronze for the 4x100-meter freestyle relay final, gold in 100-meter women’s backstroke final, gold in 4x200-meter freestyle relay final, gold in 200-meter backstroke and a gold in 4x100-meter medley relay final. Franklin recently tweeted "Your support and good luck wishes have meant the world to me! Thank you for making these 8 days so incredible for me,” and later drop an inspiring quote tweeting "Never set a limit on your dreams. You may not know when or where they will come true, but you must always believe that they will.”

Gabby Douglas brings home the gold!

16 year old Olympic Gold Medal winning gymnast Gabby Douglas struck her first gold with the "Fab Five" in team competition for the first time in 1996 becoming one of the 2 major highlights of this week in the 2012 Olympics. Only a few days later Douglas added more history to her resume winning the Gold Medal in all-around competition becoming the first African-American to win the gold in Gymnastics.
Douglas has been involved with Gymnastics since the age of 4 and by 8 she was Virginia State Champion. At the age of 14 being such a great talent at a young age she moved to Iowa to train with her coach Liang Chow. Which led to a world championship gold in Japan in 2011. Now brings her to today becoming one of the young phenom's and a prodigy in Gymnastics Competiton we hope to see her back in the 2016 Olympics in Rio.

The U.S Womens Volleyball team has been very dominate in Olympic play and remains the favorite for the gold. Team USA is 5-0 in moves onto the Quarterfinals number 1 in Pool B. They have defeated Korea,China,Brazil,Serbia, and Turkey led by the outstanding play of Destinee Hooker,Logan Tom, and Foluke Akinradewo. Team USA will take on the Dominican Republic to open up Quarterfinal play.


Kerri Walsh Jennings, Misty May-Treanor


Kerri Walsh Jennings and Misty May-Treanor of the U.S. kept their three-peat hopes alive by advancing to the Olympic Beach Volleyball quaterfinals on Saturday. The dynamic duo are the two-time defending Gold Medal winners in U.S Women Beach Volleyball. Jennings and May-Treanor have dominated in this competition since 2004 its no doubt that they are the easy favorites to win the Gold Medal.


The USA Women's Basketball team is well on their way to taking home another gold medal at the 2012 London games. They have shown utter dominance through the first matches of the tournament and have easily advanced to the knockout stages, with the first seed in group A. Team USA is on a 38-game winning streak after defeating China today.Diane Taurasi ,Candice Parker,Angel McCoughtry,and Maya Moore have been the standouts so far in Olympic play. They will be taking on Canada August 7th in the knockout round. Team USA is currently 5-0 right now in the 2012 Olympics.


After close call against Lithuania The U.S Men Basketball team will take on Argentina then move onto the Quarterfinals. Team USA is currently 4-0 and has blown away 3 out of 4 of their opponents. Team USA recently put 156 pts an Olympic record against Nigeria led by Carmelo Anthony with a record setting performance scoring 37 points. Kevin Durant,LeBron James,and Carmelo Anthony has been the stand out players since beginning the 2012 Olympics. They will definitely continue to perform and one way or another contribute to lead Team USA to victory and grab the Gold Medal. They are hands down expected to win it all and many believe they will as well.

"No doubt Team USA has been dominate and they will be many amazing stories to come it's no telling what rising star will shine in the next event in the 2012 Olympics in London".
