Team USA Defeats Brazil (Womens Volleyball)

The United States Women’s Volleyball team were able to withstand a charging Brazil team to win their second match of the 2012 London Olympics. Team USA was led today by Destinee Hooker who helped her team defeat Brazil three games to one with scores of 25-18,25-17,22-25, and 25-21. Destinee finished with 23 spikes and 8 blocks for a total of 23 points. Also U.S teammate Jordan Larson chimed in with 36 spikes for 18 points and Foluke Akinradewo added another 9 points and 9 spikes. Mass Live Reports that in Womens Olympic Volleyball play that Team USA vs Brazil is now at a even record of 21-21 in career play. The Brazilian team in 2008 beat the U.S team for the Gold and has been ranked number 1 in four-straight consecutive years until 2011 when Team USA took the title. The USA Women’s Team is hoping to keep their number one world ranking by earning their first gold medal in team history. Team USA will now move on to take on highly ranked China later in the week.
