U.S Swimmer Allison Schmitt Wins Gold

U.S Swimmer Allison Schmitt wins her first gold medal beating out highly regarded Olympic teammate Missy Franklin in the 200m freestyle event yesterday. The Michigan native set a new record in her victory clocking in 1 minute, 53.61 seconds, shaving more than a second off the mark set by Italy's Federica Pellegrini four years ago in Beijing. Schmitt has gained three medals in the 2012 Olympics 1 Gold, 1 Silver, 1 Bronze and has one more event left later today the 800 meter freestyle relay. Allison say's she couldn't be any happier right now and went on later to say "Walking up, seeing the No. 1 next to me, and I had an amazing time.” She is a University Of Georgia student and a 5-Time NCAA champion swimmer took the year off from school to train for the Olympics. I can say "this year off from school was a very successful experience for Allison". Schmitt has trained in Baltimore with legendary and arguably the best Olympian Michael Phelps which has definitely a major help in getting her prepared for these Olympic Games. We wish Allison well in her last swimming event in the Olympics and hopes she takes home a fourth medal.
