Michael Phelps Closes Out With The Gold (Swimming)

Michael Phelps

Michael Phelps likely closed his individual Olympic swimming career with a gold medal in the 100 meter butterfly, swimming a time of 51.21. Phelps came through late in the clutch to win his third consecutive race. The Gold medal in the 100 meter butterfly gives Phelps 21 career medals, including 17 of the gold variety. Phelps also claimed gold in the 200 meter IM and the 4X200 meter relay. "I'm just happy that the last one was a win," Phelps said. "That's all I really wanted coming into the night." Phelps' medal total could be twice as much as anyone else by the time he swims the final race of his career, the 4x100 medley relay Saturday night. If this happens to be Michael Phelps last trip to the Olympics the argument of the greatest Olympian will continue even after his career is long done. However its no question that Michael Phelps is the most decorated Olympian of all-time.
